God Was Winking

Brian had KUSC playing on our home speaker system.  The boys were both eating toast with jam for lunch at the kitchen counter.  A beautiful choral piece, The Blue Bird, Op 119 No 3 by Charles Stanford performed by Rutter's Cambridge Singers was playing.  Sam said to me, "Mommy, look at Wes, he's being so silly."  And I turned around and there was Wes with a blue ink pen in his hand as his baton.  Conducting.  Conducting musically and artistically.  Crescendoing and decrescendoing with the phrases.  He smiled at me briefly with a twinkle in his eye and continued on until the piece ended with intense concentration and musicianship.  It was a moment of genetic prophesy and God was winking.
